Root Cause is run by Mohit Karwal, Mumbai, India. Contact: karwal.mohit@gmail.com.
What we keep
- Your account: name and email, and your Google profile name if you sign in with Google.
- Your homes: home name, city and timezone, spots, plants, photos you take, weekly health check answers and guidance, and the care log of who watered what and when.
- People you invite: their name and email. We email them once to ask them to join, and nothing else unless they do.
- Reminder records: which reminders were sent to whom, and whether someone unsubscribed.
Who else handles it
- Supabase stores the database and photos.
- Pl@ntNet receives a plant photo when you ask us to identify it or request a health match at a weekly check-in. We send the photo only, not your name or email.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Netlify hosts the app.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose it.
We don't sell data, show ads or share your contacts. We don't use third-party analytics in the beta.
Your choices
- Stop reminder emails from the link in any reminder.
- Download your home data from Settings, Export my data. Photo links in the export stay valid for one hour so you can download the images.
- Delete your account from Settings. Homes you own alone are deleted with their plants and photos. In shared homes, your name and email are removed from the member record; care history remains for the other people in that home.
To correct data, request deletion, or raise a privacy concern, write to karwal.mohit@gmail.com.
How long we keep it
We keep active account and home data until you delete it or your account. Email action links expire after 48 hours. Copies may remain in provider backups for a limited time after deletion.
